This summer MAC hosted another highly successful ATL Interns After 5 event series. The program introduces aspiring young professionals to the region’s business community and supports MAC’s long-term strategy to attract and retain talent.

The 2024 edition of ATL Interns After 5 brought together 1,667 summer students interning at 72 of metro Atlanta’s leading companies. The events exposed interns to key aspects of the region’s business environment, equipped them with professional tools and knowledge, and encouraged them to connect with their peers.

Events held at the Gathering Spot, TK Elevators, Microsoft, and the Coca-Cola Company fueled students’ interest in metro Atlanta as a prime location for their growing careers—89% of this year’s participants plan to start their careers in the region.

“This summer, we met an enormous number of students set to embark on their careers from around the country interning for companies located in metro Atlanta,” said Katie Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. These young people are in a formative stage, learning about the job and community options available to them and making decisions on where to start their careers. Helping them make connections and learn about the opportunities metro Atlanta offers is invaluable to the long-term growth of our talent pool.”

One intern said, “Atlanta is a vibrant city with so much to offer. From its culture to the opportunities, I knew it was the ideal place for me to grow and connect. I quickly realized how many young professionals are in the city and plan to call it home.”

Looking ahead to 2025, MAC will continue strengthening metro Atlanta’s talent pipelines through the ATL Interns After 5 program, ATL Talent Collaborative, ATLeaders, and three new initiatives: Connect to Work Georgia, Georgia Credential Library, and the Georgia Intern App. MAC’s ability to connect individuals with the region’s businesses has a profound and unmatched impact on talent development and economic mobility in our community.
