Georgia Power President and CEO Kim Greene shares her thoughts on the best advice she’s ever received and more. Read on:

What’s the biggest career risk you’ve ever taken?

Early in my career, I moved from engineering to finance. I didn’t know a whole lot about finance, and I thought I’d be in that role for about three months since it was a temporary assignment. That role lasted eight years. I learned early on to stay open-minded about future opportunities.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

There really are no bad decisions. You’re going to learn, you’re going to get better. Whether you enjoy the path you embark on or not, you can use that experience to your advantage later down the road.

What’s one memorable career misstep you’ve made?

There wasn’t anything significant, but there were certainly a lot of small mistakes along the way. I learned early on to ask for help — don’t let things get too far gone before you reach out. Let people know when you feel like you’ve made a mistake. The earlier, the better.
