January 2025 marked the second time Atlanta hosted the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship. Nearly 78,000 attendees, the second largest crowd for a CFP title game, experienced southern hospitality at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. From packed out stands to vibrant celebrations across the city, Atlanta showed the world why it’s the premier destination for major sports events.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is a venue praised for its ease of access and affordability. The venue is adjacent to the new state-of-the-art Signia by Hilton Hotel and across from the upcoming Centennial Yards, the future hub for a world-class entertainment district in Downtown Atlanta. Even with all of the fan-friendly amenities, concession pricing remains notably reasonable. Attendees have the luxury of enjoying events and everything the stadium has to offer.

After the excitement of the 2025 CFP National Championship, we have a busy schedule ahead. The Atlanta Sports Council, which promotes Atlanta as a top choice for major sporting events, has been busy lining up games and series that will place a global spotlight on the region. This summer, the region will host the 2025 MLB All-Star Game and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™. A slew of major sports events will take place over the next few years:

  • 2025: NCAA Men’s Basketball Sweet 16 and NCAA Men’s Basketball Elite 8
  • 2025: FIFA Club World Cup 2025
  • 2025: MLB All-Star Game
  • 2026: FIFA World Cup 2026™
  • 2028: Super Bowl LXII
  • 2031: NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four

Atlanta is well-positioned to host these events safely and successfully due to the strong support from the state, the city of Atlanta and our corporate partners. Already, the recent CFP National Championship projected an estimated $75 million economic impact. Ticket prices exceeded $3,000 in the 24 hours leading into the matchup. These figures illustrate the high anticipation and attendance rates for major events coming to town, whether it’s football, basketball, soccer, or baseball.
