Nationally Ranked Colleges & Universities

Metro Atlanta is home to some of America’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning. U.S. News & World Report ranks Emory University in the top 25 universities in the country, Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia in the top 20 best public universities in the nation, and Agnes Scott College as the most innovative liberal arts college in the country. And that’s just the beginning. 

Hub of HBCUs

Metro Atlanta is home to six Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), including the #1 and #4 HBCUs in the nation (Spelman College and Morehouse College) right here in Atlanta. We are home to one of four HBCU medical colleges in the country. 

Rich in Research

Our universities are some of America’s best-in-class research institutions in terms of both research resources and number of researchers in each field. Groundbreaking research is happening at Georgia research institutions such as Georgia Tech, Georgia State University, University of Georgia and Emory University.  

Vast Technical College Network

With 22 colleges, 88 campuses and more than 600 programs, the nationally recognized Technical College System of Georgia boasts a 99% job placement rate and special apprenticeship and on-the-job training programs to prepare students for high-demand careers. 

New Schools for Emerging Industries

Our educational ecosystem is always adapting to prepare young people for careers in growing industries. Check out the Georgia Film Academy, Georgia FinTech Academy and the Georgia Biosciences Training Center as just a few examples.

An Eye on Affordability

Through HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships and grants, tuition-free technical college opportunities, and a recently launched “last mile” financial aid program, Georgia is working to keep the costs of higher-ed low compared to other states.
