Hiring event bridges opportunity gaps and strengthens workforce ties
This summer, Connect to Work GA hosted its inaugural logistics and warehouse job fair to connect unemployed and underemployed individuals with immediate job opportunities at Carter’s Braselton distribution center. Backed by a powerhouse partnership between Connect to Work GA, Gwinnett County Government, and Gwinnett Technical College, the event had an immediate impact, connecting qualified local talent to real jobs on the spot.
Strong community interest underscored the growing demand for logistics and warehouse jobs across the region. Carter’s hired 60% of the pre-screened and referred candidates, a strong conversion that reflected both the effectiveness of the outreach strategy and the quality of talent engaged through the event. While many attendees hailed from Gwinnett County, strong turnout from DeKalb and Barrow counties showcased the wide reach and rich diversity of metro Atlanta’s workforce.
“The energy and interest we witnessed at this event speak volumes to the need for accessible job opportunities in metro Atlanta.” said Brittany Morrow-Jenkins, Program Director for Connect to Work GA. “Carter’s commitment to hiring locally is driving real change, and we’re proud to be a part of that momentum.”
Unlike traditional job programs, Connect to Work GA focuses on long-term placements and operates as a connector, not an employer. It uses a last-mile, skill-based hiring model, streamlining the process by directly linking pre-qualified candidates with employers based on skill alignment. The program is on track to address critical hiring shortages by placing individuals into entry-level roles across warehousing, logistics, and cybersecurity.
With future events planned across the 29-county metro region, Connect to Work GA is scaling its success and building a stronger, more inclusive talent pipeline. These efforts don’t just fill roles; they fuel economic mobility and move the region forward.
