A skill-based hiring initiative strengthening Georgia’s workforce
The Metro Atlanta Chamber launched Connect to Work GA – Powered by Skills for America’s Future in February. This workforce initiative is designed to strengthen the region’s talent pipeline by bridging the gap between skilled job seekers and employers. The program is one of three talent initiatives announced in 2024 with the support of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. Currently focused on metro Atlanta, Connect to Work GA will set a model for the entire state of Georgia, aiming to enhance economic mobility and promote inclusive workforce development.
Connect to Work GA focuses on long-term placements and operates as a connector, rather than an employer, distinguishing it from other programs. It utilizes a last-mile hiring model with a streamlined approach that directly links pre-qualified candidates with employers based on skill match. The program will address critical hiring shortages by placing an average of 150 individuals annually in entry-level positions from warehousing to cybersecurity. “We are simplifying the hiring process for both job seekers and employers,” said Brittany Jenkins-Morrow, Program Director of Connect to Work GA. “Our goal is to help remove visibility barriers and connect businesses with a ready-to-work talent pipeline.”
Connect to Work GA prepares job seekers for these roles by partnering with community organizations like Westside Works to provide resume support, interview coaching, and job readiness training. “We are not just filling jobs. We are creating meaningful career opportunities while helping businesses build a stronger workforce,” said Angelia O’Neal, Talent Acquisition Coordinator for Connect to Work GA.
As the economy evolves, initiatives like Connect to Work GA are essential for building a stronger talent pipeline. By prioritizing skill-based hiring and upskilling, it directly connects hiring managers with otherwise overlooked talent. The program will continue to expand over the next few months, bringing even more hiring opportunities to the region.
Businesses and organizations can access the program at connecttoworkga.org. Employers and job seekers interested in joining the network can submit an intake form for placement consideration.
