The expansion of the German automaker brings hundreds of jobs to Sandy Springs.
Mercedes-Benz is strengthening its presence in metro Atlanta with a major headquarters expansion. The global automotive stalwart will create up to 500 new jobs at its North American headquarters in Sandy Springs, reinforcing the region’s reputation as a hub for innovation, talent, and forward-looking industry.
Since relocating its North American headquarters from New Jersey in 2018, Mercedes-Benz has become an integral part of the local business community. The latest expansion will centralize key corporate functions by relocating roles from California and the suburbs of Detroit — an area long recognized as the historic heart of America’s automotive industry. This strategic shift underscores metro Atlanta’s rising stature as a center for mobility innovation, fueled by a skilled workforce, world-class infrastructure, and a vibrant business ecosystem.
The company’s investment extends beyond office space. Mercedes-Benz is investing millions to build a state-of-the-art research and development center near its 1MB campus. The center will accelerate innovation and create new, high-skilled jobs.
“This project is a great example of why companies choose metro Atlanta. What began with Mercedes’ headquarters relocation in 2015 has evolved into a decade of growth — from the stadium partnership to expansions in Sandy Springs and the new R&D hub at Georgia Tech,” said Gregg Simon, senior vice president of project and partner development at the Metro Atlanta Chamber. “It’s a true reflection of the strong economic development partnerships and shared commitment that drive success across our region.”
Mercedes-Benz’s decision adds to the powerful momentum fueling Georgia’s auto and mobility sector:
Together, these investments highlight why Georgia has been ranked the number 1 state for business for 12 consecutive years. Metro Atlanta’s unmatched access to talent, innovation, and global connectivity makes it more than a place to do business. It’s a launchpad for the future.
