Vice President, Strategic Communications
Abby Turano is the Vice President for Strategic Communications at the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC), focused on brand reputation, media relations, and executive communications. Part of the MAC team since 2022, Abby leverages her communications expertise to further position metro Atlanta as a top-tier global region. She revitalized internal communications at the Chamber and serves as a steady and dependable voice on messaging strategy across all departments.
Previously, Abby served as the Deputy Commissioner for Marketing, Communications, and International Engagement at the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD). She also served as Georgia’s Chief of Protocol, leading the Diplomatic Affairs team for roughly a decade. She started out coordinating GDEcD’s global marketing initiatives and served as a speechwriter for former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.
Abby is an active member of the executive committee at the Alliance Française d’Atlanta. Enthusiastic about the evolution of the written word, Abby is a defender of the Oxford comma. She is an advocate for Atlanta’s cultural prowess, and she values public art, quality transit, and third spaces.
Abby holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. She speaks mediocre French and lives in Atlanta with her husband and two daughters.
