In biopharmaceuticals, Takeda Pharmaceuticals produces medicines for patients worldwide from its Newton County facility. The medical device industry is also expanding, with Boston Scientific operating an endoscopy manufacturing facility in Johns Creek and animal health company Zoetis growing its presence in Douglas County. Health technology is another area of momentum, highlighted by Glide Tech’s decision to locate its headquarters in Cobb County, bringing 500 jobs focused on diabetes care technology.
Together, these investments reflect the breadth of metro Atlanta’s life sciences ecosystem, from advanced manufacturing to software-driven healthcare innovation.

“Those other geographies are very expensive areas, and businesses there are having trouble recruiting talent because it’s just hard to live there,” Gregg explains.

As a result, some life sciences firms are increasingly evaluating the region for corporate functions such as finance, human resources, legal operations, and shared services.
